A Look Back
I've wanted to get these pictures up for a long time (since we knew the tranplant was going to happen) and reading Cassell's blog today finally inspired me to get it done! Here's a look back at Chris and Derrek from the beginning.
The story of our 4 lives since Monday, September 15, is certainly not a tragedy, despite one of our family member’s losses. It seems somehow fitting and proper that Derrek be left with a physical reminder of what was lost… and what was gained. The deepest etching on my heart is the love, courage, and brotherhood I have witnessed each and every day since we began this process. We are back home today, and the concept of "self" seems so shallow. We have become more, something greater, than our individual parts. If you happen to be surfing Chris Kaiser, I hope you read this. I want to say I love you. Thank you for letting me share a portion of your life, and thank you for letting me be a small part of this beautiful story. Your Wife
